Samsung announces Galaxy Watch with improved battery life, LTE, health features

The Note 9 isn't the only new product Samsung announced on Thursday.

Alongside announcing the Galaxy Note 9, Samsung unveiled a new smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch.

Ditching the Gear namesake, the Galaxy Watch will still run Tizen, the company's wearable operating system.

The Galaxy Watch comes in two different sizes, 42mm or 46mm. Samsung is touting multiple day battery life and LTE connectivity for those who want to leave his or her smartphone behind.

The 42mm model will come in black or gold, and the 46mm model comes in silver.

Samsung has also added new health management tools for better monitoring of your heart rate, stress levels, and sleep habits. Samsung Health will then use that information to make recommendations to keep you healthy. Additionally, there are 21 new indoor workouts for a total of 39 tracked workouts overall.

The 42mm model will cost $329, with the bigger model coming in at $349. The watch will be available starting August 24 on Amazon, Best Buy, and directly from Samsung.

The LTE variant doesn't have a release date or price quite yet but will work with AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon.
