Microsoft's Ignite 2018 IT Pro conference: What to expect

There are a few hints about potential SQL Server, virtualization, Microsoft 365, Surface Hub 2 and other revelations in Microsoft's recently published Ignite 2018 session list.

The next version of SQL Server. Surface Hub 2 and Surface Go with LTE. What's next for Intune and Windows Autopilot. Windows Server 2019. New Remote Desktop services.

msignitewhattoexpect.jpg
Those topics and more are mentioned -- or at least hinted at -- in Microsoft recently published the session list for its annual Ignite IT Pro conference happening at the end of the September.

Looking through the 623 Ignite sessions currently listed, I saw a few things worth noting.

Last year, Microsoft used Ignite to highlight its usual AI, intelligent edge, and its futuristic quantum-computing technologies. In March 2018, Microsoft was touting quantum, mixed reality and AI as some of the major topic areas that would be featured at Ignite this year.

However, at least from the listed sessions, it looks like the agenda may be a little more grounded in product reality.

Currently, there is not a single quantum session listed. There are only two mixed-reality ones -- including one on "Visio Immersive," which sounds a lot like what Microsoft is doing with SharePoint Spaces.

AI will still be big, with just under 100 listed sessions that touch on AI in some way. (I wonder if Ignite might be where Microsoft officially unveils the "AI Accelerate Kit" which Microsoft told partners at Inspire would be coming in October and include AI use cases, best practices and "Ethical AI" guidance.)

Like last year, Microsoft will be focusing heavily on Microsoft 365, its bundle of Windows 10, Office 365 and Intune security/management technologies. Additionally, at this year's Ignite, there also will be a lot of Dynamics 365 CRM and ERP content -- which makes sense given October is when the next feature update will arrive for Microsoft's suite of Dynamics products.

This year, there also will be an uncharacteristic (but welcome) number of developer content, as well. ASP.NET, Visual Studio Code and Visual Studio 2017, Node.js and plenty of container sessions are all on the docket. There are a few sessions on Progressive Web Apps and more focused on MSIX, the new Windows 10 application-packaging technology Microsoft is in the midst of rolling out.

There are 115 sessions listed in the catalog that touch on SQL Server (including Azure SQL). And there are hints that Microsoft will peel back the covers on its successor to SQL Server 2017 -- the product codenamed "Aris," which is currently in private Community Technology Preview testing. (Thanks to The Walking Cat on Twitter for the Aris codename.)

"Come to learn about the roadmap and new functionality planned for SQL Server including intelligent query processing, data virtualization, new features for mission-critical security and HADR, and new scenarios for Linux and Docker Containers," says one session description.

On the hardware front, Microsoft is touting the ability for attendees to "meet the newest members of the Surface family - the Surface Hub 2 and Surface Go." A few days ago, there was a session listed as "Surface in the LTE World" (which seemingly has disappeared since). I was thinking Microsoft might show off the Surface Go with LTE, promised for this fall, at Ignite, but maybe officials have decided to hold off on that for another time/event. Surface Hub 2, which Microsoft showed off earlier this year, is slated to be available to testers this fall and ship in 2019.

Recently, Microsoft made available to testers an early version of a new SKU of Windows 10 called "Windows 10 for Remote Sessions." There's a session at Ignite on "What's new and what's next in Windows virtualization" which might provide more details.

"Come to this session to learn about the latest improvements in Remote Desktop Services (RDS) that enable you to host desktops or applications accessible by remote users," says the description.

Windows Server 2019, Microsoft's next major release of Windows Server, will be a hot topic at Ignite, as well, which, makes sense, given it's due to start rolling out this fall (likely around October).

Microsoft Ignite is happening in Orlando from September 24 to 28.

Microsoft previews what's coming in Dynamics 365 this October

Microsoft is adding more than 100 new features to its ERP/CRM products, plus introducing a new AI for Sales app.

Microsoft is making available today 238 pages of release notes for its upcoming October 2018 releases of its Dynamics 365 ERP and CRM applications.

Microsoft execs said last month that the company is moving toward a twice-annual update schedule for it's Dynamics 365 Online apps -- in April and October, which are around the same time that it currently delivers the twice-yearly Office 365 ProPlus and Windows 10 feature updates. The Fall updates to Dynamics 365 will roll out between October 2018 and March 2019, officials said.

Officials recently disclosed that Microsoft planned to make these notes available during the company's Business Applications Summit in Seattle, which kicks off today, July 23.

The coming October update includes more than a hundred incremental updates to the core Dynamics Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Portals, Omni-channel Engagement Hub, Field Service, Project Service, Social Engagement, Finance and Operations, Talent, Retail, and Business Central products and services.

The new Dynamics 365 AI for Sales app, which Microsoft officials demonstrated during this morning's keynote, is meant to help sales teams use technologies, such as call sentiment analysis and warnings about deals being at risk, to take proactive actions. This app will be in public preview as of October 2018.

The company is continuing to work to more tightly integrate Dynamics 365 with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, LinkedIn, Microsoft Stream video platform, Azure, Azure IoT Central, Outlook and more.

Integration between Dynamics 365 Sales with Teams, LinkedIn InMail relationship analytics, and predictive lead scoring will be in public preview as of October. A preview of integration between Microsoft Teams and Dynamics 365 for Sales will be available this October, as will deeper integration between LinkedIn and Dynamics 365 for Marketing, as well as between Skype and Microsoft Stream and Dynamics 365 for Talent.

Microsoft also is continuing to emphasize the applicability of its HoloLens augmented reality goggles with the company's business applications. Officials are making available as part of the October 2018 update integration with Remote Assist, Microsoft's new hands-free video calling, and Microsoft Layout, which allows space planners to design their spaces.

The company also is continuing to advance its updated Common Data Service, which is part of its "Power Platform," with the October 2018 release.]

Microsoft's plan to put Dynamics 365 CRM/ERP on a twice-yearly update schedule

Microsoft is bringing Dynamics 365 Online in line with Windows 10 and Office 365 by releasing feature updates twice annually in April and October.

Like Windows 10 and Office 365, Microsoft's Dynamics 365 is moving to a twice-yearly feature update model.

Microsoft disclosed its plans around changing the way it updates Dynamics 365 on July 6 via a blog post.

Under the new plan, Dynamics 365 Online will start being updated as of this year so that its two major feature updates will hit in April and October -- basically, the same time period when Windows 10 and Office 365 Pro Plus also get feature updates. Microsoft execs said the goal is to make these updates backward-compatible and as seamless as possible, and any possibly disruptive new features will be turned off by default.

In addition, Microsoft is adding the ability for IT pros to validate these updates in a sandboxed environment, starting with the April 2019 update, officials said. And to help IT prepare for these updates, release notes will be published "months" prior to each update. For example, the release notes for the October 2018 Dynamics 365 update will be published on July 23 (which is during Microsoft's Business Applications Summit).

There is no mention in Microsoft's blog post about the possibility of deferring feature updates, which is something Windows 10 business users can do for a period of time. I've asked about this, but no word back so far. Today's blog post makes this appear unlikely, noting:

"Since every customer will be updated on the continuous delivery schedule, your organization needs to update to the latest version if you are running an older version of Dynamics 365."

Update (July 9): As expected, the answer is no on deferrals of the twice-annual feature updates. The full answer, delivered by a spokesperson:

"Our focus is on ensuring administrators will be able to first test before enabling updated features for their organization. With the Dynamics 365 (online) updates starting in April 2019, we will publish an update schedule for customers in advance so they can plan ahead and build in time to validate in their sandbox environment. Then customers can schedule the update in their production environment at their convenience within a prescribed time window. Outside of that window, updates will be automatically applied with any new major changes to the user experience turned off by default."

Microsoft officials said they notified v8.1 Dynamics 365 Online CRM users in May that anyone on v8.2 should be planning to update to the latest version by January 31, 2019. Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations Online (ERP) customers running v 7.0, v7.1, v7.2, and v8.0 need to be on the latest release by March 31, 2019. Customers with unfulfilled extension requests will be able to keep using v 7.3 until April 30, 2020.

"We will continue to fully support older versions of Dynamics 365 applications until the timeframes mentioned above. Post those dates, we will only support the latest generally available version," officials said.

Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics 365 for Talent already are on a continuous update cycle, so no changes will be required, officials said.

Those using the on-premises versions of Dynamics 365 apps won't be getting these twice-yearly feature updates. Both the on-premises and Online versions of Dynamics 365 will get regular security and reliability patches, however.

What is Microsoft 365? Microsoft's most important subscription bundle explained

Microsoft 365 is becoming a centerpiece of Redmond's cloud strategy. Here's everything you need to know what it is and how it's evolving.

What is Microsoft 365, in a nutshell?

Microsoft 365 is an integrated bundle of Windows 10, Office 365 and Enterprise Mobility + Security (aka EMS, which includes Intune device management, analytics and some Azure Active Directory capabilities), sold on a subscription basis. Microsoft 365 is the evolution of the bundles formerly known as "Secure Productive Enterprise E3 and E5."

microsoft365powered.jpg
Credit: Microsoft

How long has Microsoft 365 been around?

Microsoft introduced the Microsoft 365 concept at its partner conference in July 2017. The first two editions (Business and Enterprise) became available for purchase in early August 2017.

As part of its recent company-wide reorg, Microsoft made a subset of the Windows 10 team part of the Microsoft 365 organization. Corporate Vice President Brad Anderson now has overall responsibility for Microsoft 365, all-up.

What are the different Microsoft 365 variants or editions?

Microsoft currently offers a handful of targeted Microsoft 365 bundles. These are:

  1. Microsoft 365 Enterprise: For companies with more than 300 users. It's available in two options -- with Windows 10 Enterprise (E3 or E5), plus Office 365 and EMS.
  2. Microsoft 365 Business: For small-to-mid-sized businesses (SMBs) with up to 300 users. It includes Windows 10 Pro, Office 365 and EMS.
  3. Microsoft 365 F1: For "first-line"/customer service and support workers. This plan includes Windows 10 Enterprise, Office 365 F1 (formally Office 365 Enterprise K1) and EMS.
  4. Microsoft 365 Education: For educational institutions, schools and classrooms. It comes in three options: A1, AE, and A5.
  5. Microsoft 365 Nonprofit: For not-for-profit organizations. This seems to be Microsoft 365 Business available at a reduced rate (best I can tell).
  6. Microsoft 365 Government: For U.S. government agencies and contractors holding controlled but unclassified information.
  7. (Don't let the alphabet soup of acronyms here intimidate you. E3, E5, A1, K1, etc. are all plan designations carried over primarily from Office 365.)

Some Microsoft watchers have wondered whether Microsoft may be planning to introduce a Microsoft 365 for consumer/home users. So far, no such offering has been announced or leaked, however.

Can customers still buy the piece-parts of Microsoft 365 as standalone products? And for how long?

Microsoft is continuing to sell Windows 10 E3/E5, Windows 10 Pro, Office 365 and EMS separately and has not said it has plans to only offer these components as part of a bundle.

What is "Windows 10 Business"?

Windows 10 Business is a custom variant of Windows 10 that is only available as part of the Microsoft 365 Business plan. It includes everything in Win 10 Pro plus Windows Defender Security Controls, Windows AutoPilot, as well as hooks for Automatic Office apps deployment,

What is a "Microsoft 365-powered device"?

Shortly after announcing Microsoft 365, Microsoft officials began talking about Microsoft 365-powered devices. This was a new marketing term, and not actually a way that customers or organizations could buy or license a piece of hardware. It was simply meant to encourage customers to run one of the Microsoft 365 bundles on a Windows 10 machine.

Some Microsoft execs began describing Surface devices as Microsoft 365-powered. HP execs also have talked about the HP EliteBook x360 and HP Elite x2 under the Microsoft 365-powered banner.

The PCs that Microsoft partners introduced a year ago as being optimized for Windows 10 S also can be seen as good candidates for those running Microsoft 365 F1, as many companies would potentially be introduced in having their front-line workers run streamlined/locked-down devices. (Devices running Windows 10 S that subscribe to Microsoft 365 F1 will upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise in S mode.)

Microsoft has been phasing out quietly the Microsoft 365-powered nomenclature and replacing it with "modern desktop experience powered by Microsoft 365." There are still some references on Microsoft web sites and documentation to "Microsoft 365-powered," but not many.

Will Microsoft begin reporting Microsoft 365 as part of its "commercial cloud" revenues in its financials?

Microsoft officials have not said they plan to start including Microsoft 365 as a component of its commercial cloud bucket, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this happen in the not-to-distant future, since Office 365 and Intune are already part of the commercial cloud figures Microsoft reports.

What constitutes the "Microsoft 365 development platform"?

At its Build 2018 developer conference this year, Microsoft dedicated an entire keynote to the concept of building on top of the Microsoft 365 platform.

Microsoft now has four major development platforms: Azure, Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365 and gaming. The Microsoft 365 piece takes the current Windows developer model and expands it with the Microsoft Graph, which is Microsoft's centralized API for connecting applications and services across devices, applications and services. The Graph is what is enabling a number of the cross-platform features, like Timeline and Sets, in Windows 10.

Why is Microsoft pushing Microsoft 365 so hard?

Microsoft is hoping lightning can strike twice when it comes to bundles. Office, a bundle of the company's productivity apps, became a huge business for Microsoft over the years. Since then, the company has been testing and fielding a variety of product bundles with the goal of selling more software and services via subscription, which gives Microsoft a dependable stream of recurring revenue.

Microsoft's Build 2018 session highlights: Microsoft 365, Graph interface, MSIX packaging, more

Microsoft's early-May Build developer conference is coming into further focus as the company reveals more (but still not all) of the sessions it's planning for the three-day event.

On April 25, Microsoft posted titles and abstracts of hundreds of its sessions for its three-day Build 2018 developer conference, which kicks off on May 7. (To see the expanded session list, registered users must log into the Build web site.) In late March, Microsoft posted a couple of dozen of the Build 2018 sessions, with a focus on IoT, blockchain and data science.

While every attendee has her/his own areas of focus, I found a few of the items now listed to be of interest.

Day 1 starts with a 2.5-hour "vision" keynote anchored by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, followed immediately by another 1.5-hour technology keynote on the intelligent cloud and edge, headlined by Executive Vice President Scott Guthrie.

There will be a kick-off keynote on Day 2, after all, with Corporate Vice President Joe Belfiore presenting on "Microsoft 365 Application Development." The fact this is focused on Microsoft 365 -- Microsoft's bundle of Windows 10, Office 365 and Enterprise Mobility + Security -- and not Windows specifically reflects Microsoft's most recent reorg, which resulted in Belfiore taking on a new role in the organization responsible for Microsoft 365.

Even though Microsoft's latest reorg cleaved the Windows and Devices Group in two, there are still 97 sessions on the still-incomplete Build session list that mention Windows. Microsoft's recently introduced MSIX application-packaging initiative also is covered by multiple sessions, as is the Windows 10 XAML framework and Progressive Web Apps, which Microsoft will be supporting with its Windows 10 Redstone 4 release.

Microsoft officials have said previously to expect Build to focus heavily on AI, IoT and new experimental areas like quantum computing. There are lots of sessions dedicated to Microsoft's various database platforms, several mentioning bots (including "Enterprise Calling and Meetings Bots for Microsoft Teams"), and some dedicated to mixed/augmented reality.

The Microsoft Graph sessions look interesting, including one focusing on building mobile apps using the Microsoft Graph API (application programming interface) and Xamarin, and another on how to build security apps using the Graph API. The Microsoft Graph API, for those looking for a refresher, is centralized API meant to help surface more contextual information in order to make apps smarter and stickier.

Microsoft is planning to live stream some Build sessions and make many of the others available publicly on demand. However, sessions that are labeled as "Sneak Peeks" are focused on Microsoft getting feedback from attendees and likely won't be made available to watch by those, not in attendance.

The "UI platform for AR/VR/MR devices" session on May 8 is a sneak peek, and notes that Microsoft is "considering changes to the UWP platform to make it easy to build immersive experiences for AR/VR/MR devices," including the creation of AR on 2D devices. There are an "Open source and backward compatibility for the Windows 10 XAML framework" on May 8 that's also labeled "sneak peek," which indicates that Microsoft is considering releasing parts of the Windows 10 XAML/Fluent UI framework as open source. And the "Bringing cloud powered UI to Windows 10 XAML applications" session on May 9 is also a sneak peek, covering how reactive fits into the Microsoft developer story.

The (in)famous Raymond Chen is one of the presenters in a May 9 session on "Developing for Sets on Windows 10," which could be of potential interest to any/all Windows 10 developers. Also on May 9, in the "Fluent Design System Inside of Microsoft: Office" session is going to detail how Windows and Office are working together to bring "Office's productivity expertise to the Fluent design language."

A big theme for Microsoft at Build this year will be convincing developers they need to understand so as to incorporate AI technologies in their apps. There are several sessions at Build focused on this topic, including the May 9 breakouts on "10 Things Developers Need to Know About Building Intelligent Apps," and the "Conversational AI: Best Practices for Building Bots," which will offer guidance for using the Bot Builder v4 software development kit, cognitive services and more.

Microsoft: We've fixed Office 365 sign-in problem

UPDATED: Office 365 authentication problem now resolved, says Microsoft.

Microsoft has fixed a problem which left some users of its Office 365 cloud-based office application service unable to log in.

A statement posted on the Office 365 status Twitter account at 7.53am EDT said: "We've resolved the authentication issue that was preventing users from signing into the Office 365 service. We're monitoring the environment to validate that service is restored for all users."

It later said: "We've completed all recovery actions related to MO133518 and this issue is fully resolved as of Friday, April 6, 2018, at 11:30 AM UTC. Thanks to everyone who confirmed service restoration."

It is not clear precisely how many users were affected or whereby the outage. "We've fixed the issues some customers experienced accessing some services," Microsoft told ZDNet.

Microsoft's official Office 365 status account initially said that the company was investigating 'reports of access issues' in the Asia Pacific region at 5.18am EDT (10.18am BST).

After that, it issued two more updates: one at 5.42am EDT which said it is working on "to resolve an Office 365 portal access issue," and another at 6.09am EDT to say that is "analyzing diagnostic data to isolate the root cause of the Office 365 portal access issue".

Microsoft said that Office 365 administrators with access to the admin center can check message MO133518 for more details, this warns that the issue could affect users if they are "routed through the affected infrastructure".

Microsoft is adding Microsoft 365 bundle, Azure Stack options for government users

Microsoft is adding Microsoft 365 and Azure Stack options for its US government customers. But there's still no definite date when Teams support will be added for government users.

On March 5 at its Government Tech Summit in Washington, D.C, Microsoft announced availability of Microsoft 365 for US Government Cloud.

This bundle includes Windows 10, Office 365, and Enterprise Mobility + Security features for U.S. Government customers. Its the latest addition to the Microsoft 365 family, which also includes versions for SMBs, enterprises, education, first-line (customer service) workers, nonprofits and more.

Microsoft offers three different government clouds, all of which keep data isolated in the U.S. and in its own separate physical infrastructure. The three are Government Community Cloud (GCC) for civilian state, local and federal government agencies; GCC High for highly classified government users and those doing business with them; and DoD cloud for intelligence agencies.

Microsoft 365 for US Government is generally available in GCC, GCC High, and DoD Cloud (as of March 1, 2018.) Microsoft plans to add Microsoft Teams support for these government cloud environments as of April 2018.

Update: That April date for Teams isn't definitive. Microsoft originally gave me an April timeframe, but subsequently let me know they were working to release as quickly as possible. The official statement: "Microsoft is working to bring Microsoft Teams to government cloud at each compliance level as quickly as possible."

Microsoft execs also noted that Enterprise Mobility + Security is now generally available separately for US Government cloud users.

Microsoft officials also announced today that Microsoft will be making its Azure Stack hybrid cloud offering to US government users sometime "soon."

Microsoft already has Microsoft Azure Government, a cloud offering to US government customers and partners. Azure Stack will integrate with the Azure Government cloud across identity, subscription, billing, backup, disaster recovering, monitoring tools and the Azure Marketplace.

Azure Stack is a hybrid appliance that Microsoft makes available via a handful of partners. It provides customers with many of the pieces of Microsoft's Azure public-cloud platform in a form they can run inside their own or partners' on-premises datacenters. Microsoft's partners began making Azure Stack generally available last fall.

Microsoft prepares new Dynamics 365-marked HCM applications, virtual client benefit operators

Microsoft is extending its Dynamics 365 lineup with new particular SaaS applications, and is offering adaptable virtual help specialist benefits under the 'Flow 365 AI' mark.

Microsoft is extending its Dynamics 365 ERP/CRM portfolio with more applications in the human capital administration (HCM) space.

Microsoft presented its initially committed HCM application in April, called Dynamics 365 for Talent. That application, which ended up plainly accessible for buy in July, coordinates with LinkedIn Recruiter and gives a combined HR profile, traversing Office 365 Dynamics 365 and LinkedIn profiles.

At the organization's Ignite IT genius meeting in Orlando this week, Microsoft authorities declared plans for two extra HCM applications: Dynamics 365 for Talent: Attract and Dynamics 365 for Talent: Onboard.

Authorities depicted these two new increments, which they said will be accessible not long from now, as more measured programming as an administration (SaaS) applications. They will have the capacity to exploit clients' current information, connection to their current HR frameworks, and coordinate with LinkedIn, Office 365 and Dynamics 365.

Microsoft authorities said they see these new applications as an approach to change a solitary business process, instead of attempting to persuade clients to tear out and supplant their center HCM frameworks that give everything from finance to benefits administration.

The Attract application will give an approach to "pull in the perfect individuals," authorities stated, by enabling them to profile work hopefuls and get bits of knowledge into the accessible pool of applicants. Installed will enable organizations to customize the onboarding procedure, Microsoft stated, with new assets and preparing.

Microsoft authorities said to anticipate that the organization will present more measured business-process-centered SaaS applications in a similar vein later on.

Microsoft likewise flaunted and examined at the demonstrate some new custom virtual help specialists that the organization has worked for use by Microsoft itself, HP and Macy's.

Despite the fact that Microsoft has named this operator innovation "Progression 365 AI Solutions," the hidden innovation has no association with Microsoft's Dynamics 365 product offering. (I think Microsoft ran with the Dynamics 365 marking since Dynamics 365 has client bolster/CRM at its center.)

Microsoft specialists will custom form these sorts of operators for big business clients utilizing Microsoft's Knowledge Graph, Bing information, Microsoft machine-perusing innovation, its AI Authoring innovation for going past scripted discoursed and then some. The graph implanted in this post above shows how Microsoft is amassing the piece parts to make these sorts of arrangements.

Microsoft waffles in regards to what's next for Dynamics 365 for SMBs

Microsoft is by all accounts reexamining its system around how to offer Dynamics 365 to little and fair size organizations after pushback from a few accomplices.

Microsoft's rollout of its Dynamics 365 CRM/ERP offerings has been a fairly confounding one. This week, following the Directions North America 2017 occasion for Microsoft Dynamics 365 SMB clients, a few accomplices and clients appeared to be much more confused about where Microsoft means to go next.

Microsoft initially declared plans for Dynamics 365 in July 2016. Authorities said around then that Dynamics 365 would be to a great extent a repackaging and re-architecting of the capacities of Dynamics CRM, Dynamics AX, and Project Madeira. Task Madeira, the codename for Microsoft's Dynamics 365 Financials segment, was intended to be another private venture programming as-a-benefit offering based on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV stage.

At the current week's gathering, Microsoft authorities delineated plans for Dynamics 365 "Tenerife," which is the successor to Madeira. Tenerife is intended to be both the following rendition of Dynamics NAV (one of Microsoft's four distinctive ERP product offerings) and Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, Business Edition and be accessible both as a cloud benefit and new on-premises discharge, as MSDynamicsWorld.com noted.

Be that as it may, the organization's intends to enable accomplices to "white mark" Tenerife didn't sit well with various accomplices, who were blogging and remarking on Twitter said they felt dazzle sided and befuddled by that adjustment in procedure.

As Steve Mordue, a Microsoft Dynamics 365 MVP blogged:

"The most noteworthy thing to accomplices was this thought NAV will never again be an item that is sold to clients, rather, whatever you work in Tenerife will be the item that you pitch to your clients This incorporates one-off customizations for a solitary client, or multi-client applications that you may work for AppSource. There will be no ERP item called Financials or NAV or whatever else that is sold by accomplices, rather the item you offer will be your own white-marked offer."

Accomplices would be permitted to state these offerings were "fueled by Dynamics 365," however not really Dynamics 365 itself, Mordue stated, which made more concern and disarray.

Yet, it appears Microsoft is currently "strolling back" this white naming procedure, in view of a September 21 post from Mordue. The organization is rethinking how and if to make white marking some portion of the methodology, it appears.

What's less evident is the thing that Microsoft is doing around marking of its still-inaccessible Dynamics 365 Sales and Marketing Apps for SMBs (the purported "Business Edition" applications). While some going to the meeting appeared to take away Microsoft was dropping its postponed Dynamics 365 Sales and Marketing applications, it now creates the impression that it may very well be the "Business Edition" moniker that gets dropped, not simply the applications.

As MSDynamicsWorld.com clarified it, Microsoft's new arrangement to offer Dynamics 365 applications "as a composable suite," not with plans or versions - which is the way Microsoft has been permitting and clarifying these items for as long as year-in addition to - brought about a "turbulent reaction."

It appears as though Microsoft does in any case intend to present in the Spring of 2018 the deferred "Business Edition" Dynamics 365 Sales and Marketing applications, and additionally the Finance and Operations application - which likewise has been postponed from October 2017 to Spring 2018. In any case, it may not mark these applications as "Business Edition," in view of reports from the Dynamics NA appear.

I approached Microsoft authorities for illumination in the matter of what's going on with Tenerife and Dynamics 365 Business Edition, yet haven't heard back up until this point.

Refresh (September 22): Microsoft gave a report on its overhauled Dynamics 365 system by means of a blog entry distributed at 2 pm.

In that post, Microsoft affirmed that it is getting rid of the "Business Edition/Enterprise Edition" qualification in its Dynamics 365 product offering. Rather, Microsoft will offer the suite of Dynamics 365 applications (Marketing, Sales, Service, Finance, Operations and Talent) to organizations of all sizes. Microsoft will offer "distinctive value focuses for each line of business application, in view of the level of abilities and limit they have to meet their particular needs," the post said.

Nonetheless, Microsoft still plans to offer "a development of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Business Edition" ("Tenerife") that will, as already noted, offer the full Dynamics NAV abilities. This application will come in two flavors: A Dynamics 365 cloud application sold by means of the Cloud Solution Provider program (CSP) and a business application stage for ISVs enabling programming sellers to insert this application in their own vertical arrangements.

Microsoft likewise wouldn't defer on the on-premises variant of Dynamics NAV 2018 and will make it accessible "later this logbook year" and not in the Spring of 2018, as declared recently.

Flow GP 2018 additionally will be out later this timetable year, as beforehand declared.
