Mobile Update; Micromax to launch "In" series of made in India smartphones - a Second Coming
Riding the anti-China sentiment
India is one of the world’s largest consumers of smartphones and is quickly
growing as a manufacturer also. However, no India-based company has
contributed to the present boom. Micromax aims to get up to the occasion and
compete with the established players.
Soon after its inception, Micromax was the most important smartphone seller by
2015, boasting of a 22% market share when India was just getting warmed up to
the concept of smartphones and 4G. This was largely driven by the success of
the Canvas series which was known to supply very competitive specs for the
worth.
The same opportunity was seen by Chinese smartphone companies, who quickly
entered India with even more competitive offerings, slowly eating into
Micromax’s share. Eventually, it had been reduced to an insignificant level
where the Indian company scaled back its operations.
Hello everyone, yeh hai meri aur micromax ki ek choti si kahaani. We are ready to comeback, India ke liye. Are you IN for India? #MicromaxIsBack #AatmaNirbharBharat #INMobiles https://t.co/8PvVf4rMnv

While Chinese companies now controlling the bulk of the smartphone market,
recent border tensions reminded India to scale back its dependence on its
neighbor. Initiatives like Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat were
introduced to encourage companies to extend their local sourcing and
investments.
Riding on the wave, Micromax confirmed that it'll once more launch new
smartphones in India later this year. An announcement from the company’s
co-founder shed some light thereon. Rahul Sharma took to Twitter to share that
the corporate are going to be coming with a replacement range of devices — In
Mobiles. It’s unclear if it's a sub-brand or simply a replacement series or a
visible identity.
Rumors from a couple of months ago suggest that up to 3 devices are going to
be launched in India within the coming months. supported the knowledge
currently available, the phones are going to be priced within the Rs 7,000 to
Rs 15,000 price segment. The gaming performance and clean software experience
are getting to be the key features. Addressing rumors of the phones being
powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 and G35 chipsets, Rahul said "you can expect
better."
Of course, there's still a requirement to deal with the elephant within the
room. Which relates to how truly Indian these phones will find yourself
being.
Micromax’s dream run was fueled by rebranded ODM devices from China. With the
corporate being out of action for years, it remains to be seen how its
localization efforts are going to be ramped up at this point. Essential
components like the chipset, camera sensors, displays, and batteries still
need to be imported, leaving little room for higher Indian sourcing.
